Dan sent me email with the following links for those looking to learn about rocketry:
Ignition!, by John Clark
Published in 1972 by Rutgers University, “IGNITION!”, is the masterpiece of history that covers parallel history and development of rocket propellants — the fuels and the oxidizers that make rockets go.
Rocket Propulsion Elements (6th Edition), by George P. Sutton
Considered the gold standard of books on rocketry, the Sutton book has gone through at least 9 editions. This links to an electronic copy of the 6th Edition,
Design of Liquid Propellant Rocket Engines (2nd Edition), by Huzel and Huang
Written for NASA by Rocketdyne in 1967, this book intends to build a bridge for the student and the young engineer: to link the rocket propulsion fundamentals and elements (which are well covered in the literature) with the actual rocket engine design and development work as it is carried out in industry (which is very little, if at all covered in literature).
